Mercedes-Benz introduces Tyre Insurance, which covers your vehicle's tyres and rims for malicious or accidental damage. This insurance offering is available through Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.
This cover is open to valued clients who purchase or currently own private type vehicles defined as:
> Private Motor Cars
> SUVs (4x2 and 4x4)
> Light commercial vehicles used for private purposes.
The policy covers the tyres and rims of passenger vehicles, including 4x4s. It does not cover the tyres and rims of taxis, hire vehicles, rebuilt vehicles (CODE 3), courier or delivery vehicles, modified vehicles (including turbo conversions) and vehicles that are, or have been, used in any form of motoring competition.
In the event of a claim, your vehicle needs to be taken to a Mercedes-Benz dealer of your choice. If your vehicle is immobile, it will be towed to the nearest Mercedes-Benz dealer. Alternatively, should this occur in a vicinity where there is no Mercedes-Benz dealership, the vehicle would be towed to the nearest Insurer Approved Supplier.
The dealer will assess the damage to determine whether the tyre/ rim requires repairs or replacement. A quote will be prepared and sent through for authorisation from the Mercedes-Benz Claims Department. Acceptance of this quote will allow the dealer to proceed with the repairs or replacement. Alternatively, you can also pay upfront for the repairs/replacement and claim directly from Mercedes-Benz Insurance, which pays out within 7 working days from receipt of the invoice.
Malicious damage should be reported to the police and claims should include a police report and case number.
